Begun in 1946 as a volunteer organization, Lubbock's Symphony Orchestra has grown into a full-on professional ensemble, with an annual season of classical concerts and visits from nationally renowned guest conductors and soloists. Past works that have graced its stage include pieces by Felix Mendelssohn, Bach, Haydn, and many more. Its headquarters lie downtown, near Buddy Holly Plaza.
